While most of the world seems at a standstill, frontline workers have been working tirelessly to help members in our community feel comfortable, safe, and healthy. Nurses, paramedics, doctors, grocery store employees, public transit operators and many, many more have been continuously putting their lives on the line to help their communities maintain some sort of normalcy in this chaotic time.

In an effort to show appreciation for those who are doing their part to keep the world in motion, we collaborated with three Canadian businesses to create a Frontline Worker Appreciation Gift Box. Get to know the small businesses that made the gift box a reality.

Inspiration

Inspired by the courage of medical staff and other frontline workers who are going above and beyond to help us combat COVID-19, we curated a gift box that honours that bravery and encourages them to comfort themselves with some self-care. What better way to say “thank you” than to give them what they need for a good night’s sleep and a sweet treat?

We recognized that although everyone is grateful for frontline workers, not everyone may know them personally. That’s why in addition to being able to ship the gift across North America, senders could also select “Hospital Drop-Off” at checkout and we’ll give the gift to the nursing staff at The Ottawa Hospital during National Nurses Week (May 11 - 17).

Impact

100% of all net proceeds from the Frontline Worker Appreciation Gift were donated to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.

Each purchase of this gift not only brought a smile to the face of a superhero in your community, but also helped The Ottawa Hospital Foundation work towards a vaccine, collaborate with researchers across the world to determine treatments, treat the critically ill, as well as develop innovative approaches to repurpose existing drugs and find new drugs to fight against COVID-19.

What’s Included

We got an amazing response from the vendors that we contacted to collaborate on the box. Thanks to in-kind donations and substantial discounts on products, we were able to maximize the amount of proceeds going toward The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. Here’s what we included in each box:

  • Tease Tea's Golden Slumbers Sleep Tea. // Loose leaf tea serves up to 20 servings. // This liquid lullaby features notes of velvety smooth chocolate, golden strands of calendula & South African red rooibos. // Caffeine-free. // Ottawa, ON.
  • Sweet Treet Boutique's custom black sleep mask. // "Even superheroes need sleep." // Lacombe, AB.
  • Newfoundland Chocolate Company's Caramel Cookies and Cream chocolate bar. // A creamy caramel white chocolate bar infused with crumbled biscuit. // From JoJoCoCo - Ottawa, On.

Thank you to all of the vendors and purchasers who helped show appreciation for our frontline heroes.
